A BY-LAW to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute an Agreement
between the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg and the
County of Oxford to lease space for the provision of the
Provincial Offences Act Courts.
WHEREAS subsection 113(1) of the County of Oxford Act, R.S.O. 1990 Chapt. C.42
provides that County Council may pass By-laws under section 201, paragraph 23, of the
Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990 Chapt. M.45 for the use of another Municipality's staff and
facilities.
AND WHEREAS section 27 of the Interpretation Act R.S.O. 1990 Chapt. I.11
stipulates the right of a Municipal Corporation to contract without further express
provisions in Statute.
AND WHEREAS County Council has adopted the Thirteenth Report of the County
Corporate Services and Library Committee of March 28, 2000, item number 3,
recommending leases of Court space and additional judiciary quarters in Woodstock and
Tillsonburg to serve local needs in the Court Service Area.
THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
TILLSONBURG ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and instructed to sign a Lease
Agreement with the Corporation of the County of Oxford for the use of a portion
of the Community Centre, more specifically referred to as the Lion's Den, 45
Hardy Avenue, for Provincial Offences Act Court purposes.
2. AND THAT this by-law shall come into force and effect upon final passing.
