BY-LAW NO. 2960
BEING A BY-LAW TO APPOINT A
DEPUTY CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL/BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
WHEREAS Subsection 3(2) of the Building Code Act, S.O., 1992 Chapter 23, requires the council
of each municipality to appoint a chief building official;
AND WHEREAS Clause 28(0) of the Interpretations Act, R.S.O. 1990 Chapter I.11, confers
authority to council to appoint a deputy chief building official;
AND WHEREAS Subsection 207(45) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990 Chapter 45, confers
authority to council to appoint such officers and employees as may be necessary for the purposes
of the corporation, or for carrying into effect any Act of the Legislature or by-law of the council;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg deems it necessary
and expedient to appoint a Deputy Chief Building Official/By-law Enforcement Officer to enforce
the Building Code Act, the Regulations and by-laws thereunder and any other by-laws enacted by
Council of the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg in the absence of the Chief Building
Official/By-law Enforcement Officer.
THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
TILLSONBURG ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Bob Allison is hereby appointed as Deputy Chief Building Official/By-law
Enforcement Officer for the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg.
2. THAT the Deputy Chief Building Official/By-law Enforcement Officer shall have the
same powers and authority for enforcement of the Building Code Act, the Regulations
and by-laws thereunder and any other by-laws enacted by the Corporation of the Town of
Tillsonburg as the Chief Building Official/By-law Enforcement Officer.
3. THAT the Deputy Chief Building Official/By-law Enforcement Officer is hereby
empowered to act, upon notice from the Clerk of the Corporation of the Town of
Tillsonburg, when the Chief Building Official/By-law Enforcement Officer is absent or is
unable to perform his duties for, but not restricted to, any of the following occasions or
circumstances:
a. Annual leave or vacation;
b. Illness, disability or death;
c. Attendance at training courses, seminars or conferences;
d. Bereavement leave;
e. Attendance at court or legal proceedings; or,
f. A conflict of interest.
4. THAT this by-law shall come into force and take effect on the date of its final passing.
