TOWN OF TILLSONBURG
BY-LAW NO. 3000
BEING A BY-LAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE LICENSING OF BICYCLES
WHEREAS authority is ,ranted to the Council of local municipalities, under The
Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M-45, Section 210 (132), to require all residents of the
municipality, owning and using any wheeled vehicle or any kind or class thereof other
than a motor vehicle and trailer as defined in the Highway Traffic Act, and a wheeled
vehicle used for farming purposes, to obtain a licence therefore before using it upon any
highway of the municipality, and for regulating the issuing of such licenses.
AND WHEREAS it is dF;emed expedient that all bicycles owned by residents of the
municipality are; registered for the purpose of identification.
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Council of the Town of Tillsonburg as
follows:
1. THAT no resident of the municipality shall use, operate or allow the use of a
bicycle owned by such resident, on any street or highway in the Town of
Tillsonburg, without first having such bicycle registered and identified with a
licence of the Town of Tillsonburg affixed thereto.
2. THAT such bicycles shall be registered and licenced through the Oxford
County O.P.P. Detachment
3. (a) The fee I' r registration and or re -registration for a permanent licence shall
be set otit in Schedule "A" (attached) of this by-law.
(b) The new owner of a bicycle shall on sale or transfer re -register the said bicycle
within 6 days.
4. Any per. -,on who contravenes any of the provisions is, upon conviction, guilty of
an offen,.e and is liable to any penalty as provided in the Provincial Offences Act.
5. By -Law "�o. 2205 and all its amendments are hereby repealed.
6. This By- law shall come into force and effect upon final passing.
