5. General Business & Reports
5.1. Monthly Ridership Statistics
Transit Coordinator provided a summary of the monthly ridership statistics. It
was noted that the Saturday bus service has increased ridership.
5.2. Daily Ridership Statistics- November 2019
Transit Coordinator provided a summary of the daily ridership statistics for the
month of November 2019.
Staff to investigate what email addresses are being reached when a concern is
submitted through the “Contact” section on the T:GO webpage of the Town’s
website.
5.3. Monthly Payment Type
Transit Coordinator outlined the monthly payment types.
5.4. Pass Type Sold
It was suggested that users should be reminded to get the best value for their
money by purchasing a monthly pass when purchasing more than three bus
passes per month.
5.5. Retail Location Sales
It was noted that riders be encouraged to attend other retail locations with
extended hours if they are unable to purchase passes within the daytime office
hours at the Customer Service Centre.
5.6. Report OPS 19-53 White Paper – In-Town T:GO Service Delivery Options
Transit Coordinator reviewed Report OPS 19-53 White Paper – In-Town T:GO
Service Delivery Options and noted the recommendation to Council included
that the Town continues with the Conventional Transit Service with a transit
service contractor while continuing to grow ridership.
The Multi-Service Centre provides transit service to riders with disabilities, who
are unable to access the T:GO system.
5.7. Report OPS 19-54 Contract Award for RFP 2019-012 Transit Operations
Transit Coordinator provided a summary of Report OPS 19-54 Contract Award
for RFP 2019-012 Transit Operations. It was noted that the In-Town T:GO and
Inter-Community Transit Project will be held in conjunction to reduce operating
costs for both systems. The Inter-Community Transit Project commences April
1st, 2020 and the contractor takes over the in-town T:GO service on July 1st,
2020. The following resolution was passed at the December 9, 2019 Council
meeting:

THAT Council receive Report OPS 19-54 Contract Award for RFP 2019-012
Transit Operations;
AND THAT Council Award RFP 2019-012 to 947465 Ontario Ltd. o/a Voyago at
the revised pricing outlined in this report.

Staff were requested to invite a T:GO Bus Driver to a future meeting to receive
feedback on the existing system, however these comments are provided through
the monthly meetings with the service contractor and the Transit Coordinator.
Staff to provide specifications and a visual of the new bus at the next meeting.
Bus service has been extended on New Year’s Eve to continue service after
6:00 p.m. that evening until 3:00 a.m. on the morning of January 1, 2020.

Volunteer Transportation Services; More than a Drive!
Presentation to the Town of Tillsonburg’s Transit Advisory Committee
January 21, 2020
Supporting Personal Independence
•Volunteers support their community by providing non-emergency
drives in their own vehicle to local residents; 1 accessible van is also
available
•Persons must be able to transfer independently in and out of a car to
receive a drive in a volunteer’s own vehicle
•Requests made 2 business days or more in advance, scheduled on a
first come first served basis pending volunteer availability, medical
and adult day program drives are prioritized

More than a Drive
•Target population: seniors and adults with disabilities
•Door to door service +
•Volunteers will escort the resident to the appointment including
other related supports such as obtaining a wheelchair and portering
the person to the required office within a building, wait for person’s
appointment to be finished

Volunteer Training
•Volunteers become familiar with the person and are trained to report
to the MSC any changes in the person’s well being so staff can follow
up
•Training is provided on dementia care, diabetes signs and symptoms,
grieving and other topics to support the volunteer in carrying out
their role

Funding
•Ministry of Health subsidized program
•Client pays a co-payment
•Cost is dependent on geographical destination. Flat rate charges
apply

Utilization
•In 2018/2019 the MSC provided 4,625 Transportation drives to 221
clients.

She has mobility issues and regular medical appointments at the plaza by the Hwy 3 round a-bout. The stop she needs to
use is the same stop she would get off at. I connected her with Multiservice centre to see about providing assistance to get
to her appointments.
August 21, 2019 Bus not going to Townsend Lumber and Tillsonburg Threatre. I told him it was out of the service area of Tillsonburg

Her son is in a wheelchair and works at Wendys by the Norfolk Mall. Her concern is the traffic signals are not safe and
accessible. I called her and said I would forward her concern to Norfolk County as it is there traffic signals. Norfolk County
is looking into the issue and dealing with her directly.
August 28, 2019
Her and her husband work out by the Norfolk Mall (Wendy's and another business). She said she is done at 3:00pm and
does not want to wait close to an hour for the bus. She liked the old system. She said she walks home now which takes her
20 minutes and her husband gets a ride home from a coworker
August 28, 2019 Talked to Chrissy Rosehart about the bus not stopping at her home. Lives at 31 Maplelane and had concerns at about
getting to the stop in the winter and had questions about the general use of the transit system.
August 29, 2019 Concern about the bus stop times at Glendale High School not matching the school schedule (continous emails)

September 9, 2019 Stop at Bridges at Queen (stop 3), move closer to Queen Street. Has limited mobility
September 11, 2019 Lady at Harvest Crossing about the location of the bus stop on the boulevard.
September 18, 2019 Move stop 6 around the corner closer to the multi residential buildings

Her concern is the need for folks in her building to walk (often with mobility aids) to the stop. A number of people in her
building said they are unable to walk to the stop and will not be using the bus anymore. (Orginal in email from Stephanie

October 10,2019 Church group that hosts diners on Wednesday nights would like to the service hours extended. There diner runs 5:00pm to
6:30pm, Wednesday's the months of November to April

November 29, 2019 Bus drove by passengers at Bidwell and Brock
December 31, 2019 Bus service cancelled due to weather but no communication (bus cancelled at 10:45am)
January 1, 2020 Bus did not show up at Community Centre and Director drove people home after new years
January 6, 2020 Bus did not show up on time in the morning (regular passenger)
January 8,2020 Bus missed student at Southridge stop at 8:10am and got pickup at 9:20am
