CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Robert Marsden.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA:
• Resolved That the agenda as prepared for this meeting of July 31, 2014 be adopted. Moved by Brian
Stephenson, seconded by Janet Wilkinson. Carried.

NEW BUSINESS:
1. Cemetery Waterpipes — Rick Cox explained why the water was shut off to the south end of the cemetery.
Rick explained that the cold winter weather caused the pipes to burst, and after multiple attempts to fix the
split pipes, the decision was made to cut the water from running on those lines. The Committee agreed that
while there will be a cost to fix the pipes, the community values having the water accessible and request Mr.
Cox direct his staff to fix the problem and have the water turned back on.
2. Adding "Afghanistan" to Town Centre Cenotaph — Robert Marsden informed the committee of the Royal
Canadian Legion's desire to have "Afghanistan" added to the list of battles on the Cenotaph located at Town
Centre. The committee unanimously agreed to support the request from the Legion and passed the
following resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED that the Heritage, Beautification and Cemetery Committee supports the Royal
Canadian Legions request to have Afghanistan added to the Cenotaph at the Town Centre memorial.
Moved by Janet Wilkinson, seconded by Sue Saelens.
