1.2009 Budget - TYAC Delegation a
Presented By: Abbie Boesterd
Ms. Abbie Boesterd, Tillsonburg Youth Advisory Committee (TYAC), appeared before
Council regarding TYAC grants, requesting an increase in the budget to $15,000. She
noted that, due to economic downturn, there will be more need for youth services. Types
of projects that were supported - Upper Deck, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Girls Conference,
Lunch program. Sue Sandham recognized that the Lunch Program is keeping students in
school, keeping them active. There are finding 75 - 80% participation. The Girls
conference showed grade 10 students potential career paths; the Safe Council helps
victims of sexual abuse; the Salvation Army helps unwed mothers and teaches them such
things as how to cook and budget

prepare a summary.

support the Participate initiative and grant them a one-time $5,000 and that it be funded
from Reserves.

Discussion continued regarding the 2009 Budget and the following resolution was introduced, but later
withdrawn.

Seconded by Councillor Beres AND RESOLVED THAT the requirement from taxation for the 2009 Budget
be $10,857, 377 which results in a zero percent increase in taxation vs 2008, and that Reserves be used
to effect this.
