Children are our future. We need them to better understand our planet, so we can raise the next generation of responsible decision-makers. It's critical we educate about bees and other pollinators, and what they can do to help - right in their own town. 2,500 2,500 Cost of 10 learning sessions at a cost of $250 per presentation. 2,500 This funding will allow us to reach 10 elementary classrooms. With an average of 24 children per class, that is an estimated 240 students and 10 teachers benefiting from this program. We will promote the Tillsonburg community and it's students on social media. Furthermore, we will contact local newpapers to feature this environmental education initiative. Page 16 of 33 Tillsonburg Cultural Grant Application 2023-2024 Project Details (Continued from application) The Town of Tillsonburg is a Bee City, and if we receive funding, we will work with our community contacts to connect with Tillsonburg teachers and provide these presentations to classrooms for free. The population decline of bees and other pollinators is one of the significant environmental issues of our time, and it is therefore critical that we educate young people about the importance of bees and other pollinators and what we can do to help. Our Virtual Learning Program is of great benefit to teachers as well, as it allows them to access knowledgeable and professional pollinator educators for free. Funding Details We are requesting a total amount of $2,500 to fund these sessions locally in Tillsonburg. At $250 per virtual session, this would allow us to reach 10 classrooms in Tillsonburg - a substantial contribution to environmental education in the town. Applicants for Cultural Grants must be located in the community or primarily provide cultural benefits for the Town of Tillsonburg. Although we are not physically located within Tillsonburg, we are also not physically located anywhere in Canada. All of our employees work remotely. We have had townships accept our application because we are a remote non-profit organization that is offering programming that is not currently offered by anyone else in the township or city. 8. All successful applicants will be required to submit a final report (to include use of grant funds) – one (1) month after the event to the Cultural, Heritage and Special Awards Advisory Committee Staff Liaison The funding goes only to Tillsonburg elementary schools. We do not use the funding outside of the designated area. We are also happy to provide a written report after the 10 classes are completed. These reports will detail the exact location of where each class was held, the types of activities completed by the classroom post presentation, and the exact number of students who participated in the environmental education program by Bee City Canada. We do not set out a timeline of a certain amount of presentations per month because it can vary greatly when teachers would like to participate. Also, it is not uncommon for presentations to occur more frequently in the spring when flowers begin to bloom. I hope this helps!
