Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:58pm. 2. Adoption of Agenda Resolution #1 Moved by: Sue Seconded by: Maurice THAT the Agenda for the Parks, Beautification & Cemeteries Advisory Committee meeting of October 24, 2023, be adopted. Carried 3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting Minutes Resolution #2 Moved by: Mike Page 2 of 3 Seconded by: Christine THAT the Minutes for the Recreation & Sports Advisory Committee meeting of May 30, 2023, be adopted. Carried 4. Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof There were no disclosures of pecuniary interest declared. 5. General Business and Reports 5.1. Columbarium 2023 – another rectangular, 96 niche columbarium has been ordered and should be coming early spring of 2024, to be placed in the Catholic section. Additionally, a 12 person niche was purchased to supplement, as the previous columbarium had smaller niches which doesn’t fit all the urns. The smaller columbarium will be placed near the office. Idea for consideration is to convert the old office into a walk-in 5.2. Playgrounds update – two of three playgrounds have been installed: Elliot Fairbairn and ,,, the library had a small issue which has delayed the finalizing, it should be ready next week or so. The supervisor of parks is working on installing some AODA pathways to all play parks in near future. Also considering a play excavator for the library playground. 5.3. Parks by-law update – it is currently a long document which will be condensed for final version. By-law is currently reviewing the language in the document. The final draft version will be shared with the committee at the next meeting. Scooters – definition and different types Outdoor rink – look at hours for hockey vs all other users – double check Surveillance – is there enough to assist with enforcement Swimming vs swimming impaired Feeding of wildlife from the dock or at all? Refer to council meeting Put an exception for walking through after closing – using as throughway Ebikes and bicycles – any restrictions on ebikes? speed Skate, ski, toboggan except designated areas?
