The temporary closure of roads within the Town of Tillsonburg will be administered by
Operations Services Department of the Town of Tillsonburg and should be addressed to
the Director of Operations.
Requests for planned temporary road closures must be received a minimum one month
in advance of the event. Road closures requiring the temporary closure of road
contained within the BIA area will require approval of the BIA and applications must be
received a minimum 2 months in advance of the event.
The applicant should provide a list of road(s) to be temporarily closed and submit a
detour route. A 2 million dollar liability insurance certificate naming the Town of
Tillsonburg as additional insured will be required.
The applicant will be required to submit proof of notification of emergency services
(police, fire and ambulance).
The applicant will be required to co-ordinate the temporary closure of the roads with
Operation Services: Public Works and detour route implementation must be in
accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The following types of temporary road closure will not require the approval of council:
1. Maplewood Manor Car Rally
2. South Ridge School Track and Field day

3. Canada Celebrations
4. Remembrance Day Parade
5. Tillsonburg Fall Fair
6. Down Home Country Christmas
7. Santa Claus Parade
8. New Years Eve Celebrations
This policy does not apply to walkathon, cross country races using primarily sidewalks
and some roads and that are of a short duration i.e. less than a couple of hours.
Approval from Operations Services, however, will be required.
