Starting around noon in the
old Buckberrough blacksmith
shop at the corner of Brock and
Harvey streets business places on
Broadway were ablaze in a few
minutes.
It had been a dry period, and
when firemen turned the water
in to the hose the water would
not reach across the sidewalk.
The Tillson waterworks sys-
tem was pressed into service.
After the boilers had been fired
and fire brigades came an spe-
cial trains from Sharer, Aylmci
and Ingersoll to assist In fight-
ing the blaze. High west w?ds
carried flying dehris, and four
houses on Washington Grand av-
enue four blocks away were de-
stroyed. A barn owned by Fred
Sanders three and a half miles
west of the town was destroyed.
