Mr. Winston Oostenbrug-Retirement from Ministry of Transportation Mayor McKnight presented Mr. Oostenbrug with a Town of Tillsonburg plaque, in recognition of his efforts and interest in Tillsonburg on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation. 2. Councillor Robert Smith -Recognition for 15 Years of Service on Town Council Mayor McKnight presented Councillor Smith with a Town ofTillsonburg pin recognizing his 15 years of service on Town Council. Delegations RE: Chemical Pesticide Use i) Brandon Sheppard, of The Weed Busters ii) Bruce Sheppard, of The Weed Busters iii) Don Sifton, of Weed Man Mr. Bruce Sheppard, Mr. Don Sifton and Mr. Brandon Sheppard appeared before Council and addressed the issue of chemical pesticide use. A great deal of information was offered on the subject. It was noted that: The Provi.nce has a system in place to regulate the products that can be used. Pesticide refers to any known compound that actively controls a pest. Herbicide refers to a pesticide that controls vegetation. Anyone who applies such a product for money, must be licensed. A licensed applicator is required to carry a minimum of $1 million liability insurance. iv) Donna Naismith Ms. Naismith was not in attendance, however correspondence had been received. 2 (_) u The following background information was available: i) City ofNepean's Correspondence, dated March 23'd, 2000 Note: Town Council, at its meeting of April 251\ passed a resolution to defer this item, until more information was available. Resolutions No. 5 Moved by Councillor Rosehart Seconded by Deputy Mayor Horton AND RESOLVED THAT the Staff Report as prepared by the CAO under date of May 3'ct, 2000, with respect to advertisement for Board of Directors, Tillsonburg Hydro Inc., be received aud the recommendation contained therein be adopted. "Carried" No. 6 Moved by Councillor Beres Seconded by Councillor Rosehart AND RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Town ofTillsonburg support the City of Cornwall's resolution with respect to chauging the finaucial period to enhauce the budget process. "Carried" 4 () No. 7 Moved by Councillor Leachman Seconded by Councillor Lamb AND RESOLVED THAT correspondence received from Model Aeronautics Association of Canada Inc. be received and referred to the Airport Advisory Board, and the Economic Development Committee. ''Carried'' No. 8 Moved by Councillor Carroll No.9 Seconded by Councillor Lamb AND RESOLVED THAT Town Council adopt the recommendation of the Special Airport Advisory Appointment Committee, selected by Council for the purpose of interviewing and recommending appointment of Airport Advisory Committee Members, to appoint the following candidates as members: 1. Janis Bennell 2. Wayne Cole 3. Charles Smith; AND FURTHER THAT staff be directed to send correspondence to T.J. Lilliman expressing an interest in retaining an open line of communication between the Town and Mr.Lilliman as a resource and contact person for the purpose of promoting and improving the Tillsonburg Airport.
