Dec TOTAL 2020 423 2019 514 466 510 583 503 1615 2104 1783 645 541 827 809 10,901 2018 230 446 481 619 608 1468 2385 1369 574 734 872 1429 11,239 EXHIBIT IN THE PRATT GALLERY • Currently on display “Our Painting Past – an exhibit highlighting the museum’s fine art collection • Date range of works in show from late 1880’s through the 1970’s • Proving popular with people who either knew or took art lessons from Helen Shearing • Exhibit runs until March 29, 2020 • Next exhibit will look at the history of the newspaper in Tillsonburg as 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Tillsonburg News • Opening date of newspaper exhibit – Sunday, April 19, 2020 VALENTINE’S DAY TEA • Held Friday Feb. 14 at 2 pm • Successful event - 31 people in attendance • Culture & Heritage Program Co-ordinator gave presentation about Victorian Valentines • Patrons created own Victorian valentine to take home FAMILY DAY • Museum open 10 am to 3 pm on Feb. 17 • Offered guided tours and scavenger hunt through house • Crafts and classic family games in program room • 100 people of all ages attended throughout day SENIOR CENTER’S HEALTH & WELLNESS FAIR • Held at Senior Centre on Feb. 24 from 9 am to 2 pm • Museum had table display at event • Culture & Heritage Program Co-ordinator staffed the booth • 300 patrons attended the fair GEORGE TILLSON’S CABIN CONTEST • March 19th marks 195th anniversary of George Tillson constructing the first building in town – his log cabin • Museum celebrating anniversary with a contest on Facebook • Patrons asked to design and post to Facebook what they think George’s cabin looked like • Age categories have been established with prizes to be awarded • Contest is currently posted - closes March 19th 1st Quarter 2nd t Quarter 3rd t Quarter 4th Quarter Year End 2020 2019 1,490 2,702 4,532 2,177 10,901 2018 1,181 2,695 4,328 3,035 11,239 LUNCH & LEARN SERIES • First Lunch & Learn of series Thursday, February 27 & Friday, February 28 • Lecture topic “China’s Hero: Dr. Tillson Lever Harrison” presented by Laurel Beechey • Topic selected last year when ROM China exhibit had been planned for Pratt Gallery • 16 tickets sold for Thursday, 36 tickets sold for Friday • Next date in series Thursday, March 26 & Friday, March 27 • Lecture topic “ All Aboard! The continuing story of Tillsonburg’s Railroad History” presented by Joan Weston o To date 16 tickets sold for Thursday, 36 tickets sold for Friday o Expect more tickets to be sold for Thursday before the lecture date ST PATRICK’S DAY LUNCHEON • Friday, March 17 at 12 noon • Lunch of Irish Stew in an edible bowl with a baked potato and Irish cream cheesecake • Talk about Irish settlement in the area following lunch • To date 20 tickets sold TURTLEFEST • Curator attended meeting at BIA office Feb. 20/2020 • Turtlefest 2020 will be two-day event – Friday evening & Saturday • Block party will be held on Friday evening with Rogers sponsoring the evening concert • Saturday events will be at Museum and Memorial Park • Museum event 10 am to 3 pm • Memorial Park event 11 am to 4 pm • Sub-committee to plan events at park to be formed CANADA DAY • Curator attended first planning meeting for Canada Day 2020 on Feb. 26 • Station Arts Centre pancake breakfast will happen from 8 am – 11 pm • Museum fun fair on lawn 12 am – 2 pm • BIA will not be putting on the downtown event that they did last year • Fireworks at Memorial Park at dusk • Committee reaching out to other organizations to see if they are planning anything MARCH BREAK PROGRAMMING • Offering a Princess Aurora Tea on Friday, March 20 at 2 pm • Participants will learn about spinning, make a craft and have tea • Cost $15.00 • Culture & Heritage Program Coordinator delivering a program at the complex March Break Camp OCCI CORNER GALLERY • Jewellery sold in February • Two pairs of earrings and three bracelets • $16.00 commission to Trust for the month UPDATE ON MILITARY HISTORY GALLERY & TILLSON GALLERY • Staff working on both projects while working on next exhibit for Pratt Gallery • Military History Gallery is currently scheduled to officially reopen on Saturday, June 6 (the Anniversary of D-Day) • Tillson Family Gallery is currently scheduled to official reopen on Wednesday, November 25 (George Tillson’s Birthday)
