5) SWOT Analysis -M. Bossy
-D. Calder discussed the August 12th meeting of Council and stated that the Strategic Plan would be
looked at then.
-M. Bossy requested that the Committee put the SWOT analysis on hold until the issue is addressed
by Council.

-SWOT analysis completed by the Committee will be given to consultant if/when one is hired by
the Town.
RESOLVE THAT the committee put the SWOT analysis discussion on hold until the Community
Strategic Plan has been started by Council.

Staff to bring RFP Draft for community strategic plan to August 8 th meeting
6) Council Meeting Update -L. Gilvesy -5 mins
-L. Gilvesy gave update on her presentation to Council.
-Will present again to Council in September.
7) International Delegation
-J. Less if gave update on Taiwanese relationship and delegations.
-Discussed relationship with Canadian Municipal Business Gateway.
-Group will be in Tillsonburg today to view the community and discuss opportunities.
8) SOMA Report -D. Samis
-Update of SOMA was given including the draft report to go to the Council meeting of August 12th
-Committee discussed possibility of a member of the Committee sitting on the committee as well as
a Council member.
-The report was reviewed and the following changes were made:
• Advise SOMA that the municipality will take up to an additional two year leave from SOMA.
• Maintain the $20,000 SOMA Membership fee in reserve for the purposes of economic
development.
• Direct staff to report to Council by the first Council meeting in November 2013 the following:
• what other options may exist to address the scope of work that SOMA addresses;
• to assess what regional alliances may exist if any to accomplish the same focus as SOMA;
and
• report on meetings with SOMA and if a change could occur in their structure or to create
alliances.
RESOLVE THAT the Committee supports the recommendations as amended contained within
Report DCS 13-10, Southern Ontario Marketing Alliance (SOMA).

-China trips has been set -41 people have been confirmed
