140731 HBC MINMINUTES Town of Tillsonburg Meeting for the Heritage, Beautification & Cemetery Advisory Committee July 31, 2014 (ED 9:00 a.m. Annex Boardroom, Corporate Office CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Robert Marsden. Saelens Rick Cox, Jeff Bunn, Robert Marsden, Brian Stephenson, Janet Wilkinson, Sue Charles Baldwin, Kelly Batt, Sandra Bray, Paul DeCloet, Marian Smith, Maurice Verhoeve DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST OR THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF: None declared ADOPTION OF AGENDA: • Resolved That the agenda as prepared for this meeting of July 31, 2014 be adopted. Moved by Brian Stephenson, seconded by Janet Wilkinson. Carried. ADOPTION OF MINUTES: There were no minutes for adoption. MINUTES & BUSINESS ARISING OUT OF THE MINUTES: None. CORRESPONDENCE: None. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Cemetery Waterpipes — Rick Cox explained why the water was shut off to the south end of the cemetery. Rick explained that the cold winter weather caused the pipes to burst, and after multiple attempts to fix the split pipes, the decision was made to cut the water from running on those lines. The Committee agreed that while there will be a cost to fix the pipes, the community values having the water accessible and request Mr. Cox direct his staff to fix the problem and have the water turned back on. 2. Adding "Afghanistan" to Town Centre Cenotaph — Robert Marsden informed the committee of the Royal Canadian Legion's desire to have "Afghanistan" added to the list of battles on the Cenotaph located at Town Centre. The committee unanimously agreed to support the request from the Legion and passed the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED that the Heritage, Beautification and Cemetery Committee supports the Royal Canadian Legions request to have Afghanistan added to the Cenotaph at the Town Centre memorial.
