220913 Dog Park Advisory Committee MinutesPage 1 of 2 The Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg Tillsonburg Dog Park Committee September 13, 2022 7:30p.m. Dog Park MINUTES Present: Rosanne Fillion, Kelly Luciani, Katie Benko, Steve Cluett, Karen Clipson, Pete Luciani, Chris Rosehart Absent with Regrets: Marcie Walters-Turcotte, Connie Porter Staff Present: Julie Columbus, Margaret Puhr Guests: Heather Thompson (Mt. Elgin), Al Myers and 3 others 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:33 p.m. 2. Adoption of Agenda Resolution #1 Moved by: Karen Clipson Seconded by: Pete Luciani THAT the Agenda as revised for the Tillsonburg Dog Park Advisory Committee meeting of September 13, 2022, be adopted. Carried 3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting 4. Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof Page 2 of 2 There were no disclosures of pecuniary interest declared. 5. General Business and Reports 5.1. Shelter update – the shelter is in storage, staff are waiting on two more quotes for concrete. Once quotes are received, the shelter will be installed. Preferen ce is to have only posts and no concrete flooring poured. 5.2. Wayfinding signage update – new signs have been installed on town streets already, the next step will be directional signage within the Memorial Park area, including sign for the Dog Park. Proposed mock ups will be shared with the committee. Mulch budget of $4500 has been used up for the year. Latches for gates are being researched and quoted. Julie also spoke about the National Tree Day event in Tillsonburg planned for September 21st. The Dog Park will be closed on that day for a couple of hours. 5.3. General discussion – concerns to council – Heather Thompson, a resident of South West Oxford made a presentation to council on September 12 where she presented what she and a group of park users consider sho rtcomings of the park. Among issues expressed were inadequate funds and staff time allocated to upkeep and expansion of the park, new ground cover, inadequate lighting, small area. Councillor Luciani encouraged all to participate by becoming members of the committee in the next term of council or regular participation in the meetings which are public. Staff are always receptive to feedback. At Monday meeting the council also had a motion to review the budget for the park. 6. Next Meeting October 11 at 7:30pm – Dog Park weather permitting or Council Chambers. 7.
