Absent with Regrets: Michelle Wegg, Catherine Ryan, Karen Clipson, Mike Cerna. Also Present: Amelia Jaggard, Deputy Clerk Emily Xuereb, Deputy Chief Building Official Mark Russell, Building and By-Law Enforcement Supervisor 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. 2. Adoption of Agenda Resolution #1 Moved by: Mark Dickson Seconded by: Margaret McCrimmon THAT the Agenda as prepared for the Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting of February 7, 2023, be approved. Carried 3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting 4. Orientation Page 2 of 3 5. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair Resolution #2 Moved by: Trevor Ford Seconded by: Taylor Campbell THAT Mark Dickson be appointed as Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. Carried Resolution #3 Moved by: Mark Dickson Seconded by: Trevor Ford THAT Yvonne Kearns be appointed as Vice-Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. Carried 6. Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof There were no disclosures of pecuniary interest declared. 7. General Business and Reports 7.1. Accessible parking request on Brock Street – Mark Russell, Building and By- Law Enforcement Supervisor Mark Russell, Building and By-Law Enforcement Supervisor, provided an overview of the proposed accessible parking stall. Opportunity was provided for comments and questions from members. There was discussion regarding the existing municipal and accessible parking available surrounding the subject property. There were questions about the specifications of the proposed accessible parking stall and if the proposed location meets minimum standards for a Type B accessible parking stall. It was recommended that concave mirrors be installed at the entrance of Cat Alley to improve pedestrian safety. Concern was noted regarding the storm water drain located adjacent to the proposed accessible parking stall. Page 3 of 3 Resolution #4 Moved by: Yvonne Kearns Seconded by: Trevor Ford THAT the main motion be amended to add the following line: AND THAT the Committee recommends that Council install concave mirrors at the entrance of Cat Alley to improve pedestrian safety. Carried Resolution #5 Moved by: Trevor Ford Seconded by: Brittany Vaughan THAT the Accessibility Advisory Committee supports the installation of an accessible parking stall as proposed; AND THAT the Committee recommends that Council install concave mirrors at the entrance of Cat Alley to improve pedestrian safety. Carried 8. Meeting Schedule Resolution #6 Moved by: Trevor Seconded by: Taylor THAT the Accessibility Advisory Committee meet on the third Tuesday of March, June and September and on the second Tuesday in December at 4:30 p.m. Carried. Meetings will be held in the Council Chambers located at 200 Broadway, second floor. 9. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
